2025 Mitsubishi Triton Review: This is what we know so far

There will be no sales of the 2025 Mitsubishi Triton in the US. Which is unfortunate because the new midsize pickup is loaded with features that have been missing from American vehicle buyers. What four-wheel Drive System Does the 2025 Mitsubishi Triton use?

The 2025 Mitsubishi Triton GLS and GSR versions come equipped with the brand’s Super Select 4WD-II technology, which provides both two-wheel and four-wheel drive. Seven selectable drive modes have been calibrated for use on various terrains: normal for tarmac roads, Eco mode, gravel, snow, mud, sand, and rock.

The Mitsubishi Triton’s offroad armament for 2025 will include a Brake Active Yaw Control technology to boost traction and reaction. This system calculates appropriate yaw angles depending on current driver operation and road conditions, directing torque between the inner and outer wheels through the braking system.

Its appearance, technology, and interior were all upgraded for ease of use and convenience. With the exception of its absurd “Beast Power” design concept, I think the Triton is the most attractive Mitsubishi available today, both inside and out (sorry, Outlander). The color Yamabuki Tangerine Metallic is not unfavorable.

The modified 2025 Mitsubishi Triton, commonly known as the L200, has been redesigned with a new, larger, yet lighter body and will be available in single, extended, or captain cab versions after nine years on the market. With double-wishbone rear suspension with more travel and a redesigned pyramid frame that is allegedly up to 40% stiffer, this bike is made to last. The rear suspension still uses a leaf-spring setup, but the shocks are now bigger.

Engine, Specs, and Fuel Efficiency

All Mitsubishi Tritons will be driven by a 2.4-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine capable of producing up to 201 horsepower and 347 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm (high-output versions will also include variable-assist electrically assisted management). A six-speed manual transmission with hill start aid is acceptable, however it uses an unnecessary “shift by wire” method. However, a higher rear-drive vehicle that appears to be a capable pre-runner will be available.

A six-speed automatic transmission is also available, and both can be optioned with all-wheel drive or the uncommon “Super Select 4WD-II.” It has a two-speed transmission case and a torque-sensing central joint that sends 60% of the power backward. This features additional terrain modes that are optimized for specific combinations of powered wheels, gear ranges, and mechanical lock settings. It also includes a steep descent assist.

The optional Dynamic Gyro Management direction vectoring, which gives the 2025 Mitsubishi Triton a “active LSD” that uses brake force, helps it maintain traction. Its turning radius is actually smaller than that of the previous model, despite its larger and stronger design.

Internally, the dashboard has been enlarged to provide room for larger cup holders, an extra-large terminal bin, and more storage. A wireless charging pad, USB power outlets, and interior switches that may be used with gloves on (as Ford does) are all included. In addition, Mitsubishi repositioned the engine oil drain, so off-road models no longer require underbody protection to be removed in order to do oil changes. Last but not least, the Triton has adaptive cruise control, a small selection of state-of-the-art driving aids, and LED daytime running lights as standard.

For the first time in twelve years, the 2025 Mitsubishi Triton is set to return to Japan in 2019. It is now available for purchase in Thailand and will thereafter expand throughout Southeast Asia and Australia. Despite Mitsubishi’s desire to return to the pickup market, as previously stated, it will not be arriving in the United States. All we’re writing about is how awesome this truck is.

Since the alleged prototypes were spotted in action in Wyoming early this year, there is some hope that its soon-to-be electric brother will take its place. It’s unclear if the Mitsubishi electric truck will be an all-around toy and daily vehicle like the Rivian R1T, but considering how fantastic the recently revealed Triton noises are, it’s definitely something to be excited about.

How Much will the Mitsubishi Triton be Offered at Launch?

Initially, the Triton will be available in both double cab and club cab pick-up body designs, with several trim levels. The range concludes with the entry-level 4×2 GLX Dual Cab Pick-Up, priced at $43,690 plus on-road costs, and the range-topping 4×4 GSR Dual Cab Pick-Up Auto, priced at $63,840 plus on-road costs.

Cab-chassis models and manual transmissions (on chosen variations) will be available at a later date, with pricing to be decided.
